Introduction to the Spherical Machining Lathe
The spherical surface is one of the more challenging geometric shapes in mechanical processing. Spherical surface machining requires the machine tool to have special motion control capabilities or specific tool configurations. Choosing the right machine tool solution is the key to ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of spherical surface processing.
Main application fields of Spherical Machining Lathe:
1. Batch production of ball valve cores
• Recommended equipment: CNC spherical lathe (roughing) + spherical grinding machine (finishing)
• Key parameters: The main spindle hole diameter should be able to accommodate the bar stock, and the fixture accuracy should be high
• Budget reference: Medium level, suitable for valve factories with certain batch production scale

2: Multi-variety and small-batch production of automotive ball stud joints
• Recommended equipment: CNC spherical lathe (new generation/Baoyuan system)
• Key parameters: Programming convenience should be good, and changeover efficiency should be high
Note: Ball stud joints are mostly forged blanks, with large rough machining allowances, so when selecting the machine tool, the rigidity and power should be left with some margin

3: Inner lining of large spherical mills, super large spherical surfaces
• Recommended equipment: Heavy-duty CNC lathe (CW series with enlarged specifications)
• Key parameters: The bed's rotational diameter should be large (≥ 1000mm), and the main motor power should be above 30kW
• Note: The processing of super-large spherical surfaces is usually single-piece or small-batch, so the machine tool's versatility should be strong

4: Precision spherical joints for aerospace
• Recommended equipment: Five-axis machining center (with RTCP function)
• Key parameters: Precision is the primary indicator, position accuracy should be at the μm level
• Budget reference: High-end, with large equipment investment

5: Spherical fine processing in the mold industry
• Recommended solution: CNC milling machine/processing center + ball head milling cutter
• Key parameters: Main spindle speed should be high (≥ 8000r/min), rigidity should be good
Tool selection: The diameter range of the ball head milling cutter should cover the requirements (2.5~50mm)
